SPAAP COMPLETED  In the framework of the Spanish Government Program of  the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce (MITYC) aimed at promoting Technical Research (PROFIT Program), CTAE has been subcontracted by the company KNOSOS to contribute to the project SPAAP.

SPAAP  has been developed during the timeframe of 2007 and has recently come to a successful end.

SPAAP consists in an automatic control system of the free parking space for landed airplanes in an airport. CTAE has been responsible for the evaluation of the positioning modules to be installed in the “follow-me” vehicles. To achieve proper results, static and dynamic scenarios were taken into account. The GPS positioning modules of KNOSOS have the possibility to use the corrections provided by the augmentation system EGNOS.

The performance results clearly have shown that, considering EGNOS, the overall system can operate more efficiently and in a more reliable way. KNOSOS have shown their satisfaction with the work done by CTAE and both institutions hope to continue their close cooperation in future projects.
