BAIE New Director, former CTAE Senior Manager

NEW DIRECTOR FOR BARCELONA AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ASSOCIATION  Ms. Gloria Garcia-Cuadrado, former CTAE Senior Manager as Head of Human Spaceflight & Advanced Concepts and Head of Communication, has been appointed new Director of the Catalan Aerospace Cluster BAIE. The Executive Committee of Barcelona Aeronautics & Space Association (BAIE), the Catalan Aerospace Cluster, met past Thursday 26 of February 2009. BAIE was set up in 2000 and gathers Industry, Research and Administrations devoted to aerospace activities in Catalonia.

Among other issues on BAIE’s Agenda that day, the Executive Committee should officially appoint the New Director of the Association.

It is for me a pleasure and an honour to say that BAIE has trusted on me as its new Director: I am very happy and honoured and I will commit myself to this endeavour to the best of my possibilities.

But let me tell you something: my nearly 3 years at CTAE have provided me with two important pieces primordial for the execution of my new responsibilities: The contact with industry, which perfectly complements my past background with Universities and Research Centres, more focused on research; and, as Head of Communication at CTAE, the many contacts at all levels, ranging from media to Industry Chief Executive Officers and Administrations.

All the former adds to my previous professional and personal background and has allowed me to increase both personally and professionally, and complement it, following naturally what has been my constant interest through all my professional career, even while still at University: to promote and work for aerospace activities: BAIE is another important step in this continuous effort.

I would like to thank each and every one of the CTAE colleagues I have met through these years for their work and support while being at CTAE.

And, if you allow me, I would like to specially thank one person for his extraordinary personal quality, willingness to help and to teach, and open-mindedness: Juan de Dalmau. Juan: thanks a lot for the opportunity given to work with you and to learn side by side with you at CTAE: It has been a real pleasure, a big honour and a most fruitful experience.
