Administration & Resource Management
Alvaro has been working with CTAE since January 2006.
In the first 2 years, as Head of the Satellite Navigation Area, he drafted and pursued the strategic lines of the area, and coordinated the activities of an enthusiastic, growing team of engineers.
Since late 2007, as administration and resource manager, his main tasks have been: drafting an efficient resource management system; interfacing with customers and suppliers; managing contractual and legal affairs; coordinating the career management process; budgeting; analytic accounting; cash flow management and project management.
He studied Telecommunication Engineering at the Sant’Anna Superior School of Advanced Studies of Pisa (Italy). He received, after only 4 years of studies, his Masters degree in 2003. He is also an alumnus of the International Space University (ISU) 2005 Summer Session, held in Vancouver (Canada).
Alvaro started his professional career in 2003 as a RF UMTS Network Optimization Engineer at H3G Italy, a Hutchinson Whampoa Ltd. company in Verona (Italy) and worked as well as algorithm developer for image analysis and processing until 2004.
He then entered the space sector working at the Navigation Applications & User Services Office of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Noordwijk (the Netherlands), where he designed a system architecture hybridizing Satellite Navigation (SatNav) with Mobile Communications in urban environment, and performed technical studies on Galileo performance and on virtual road charging using SatNav.
Born in Verona (Italy) in 1979, he has enjoyed playing team sports in his adolescence (soccer, basketball, volleyball, American football, track and field) and attended his 4th year of high school in Central City, NE (U.S.A.) as an exchange student. In 1998 he ranked among the top 15 students, at national level, during the Physics Olympic Games and the Mathematics Olympic Games in Italy. In 2004 Alvaro participated to the ESA 4th Student Parabolic Flight Campaign in Bordeaux (France).
His interests include travelling, history, art, philosophy, sociology, international relations, technology, systemic thinking, process optimization, time management, and innovation.
