Cesc Betorz obtained a Masters degree in Civil Engineering from UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya; Barcelona, Spain), in 2001. His final thesis was about the absolute calibration of the radar altimeter of Topex/Poseidon oceanographic satellite using GPS buoys.

In 1999 he joined Marina Barcelona 92 Shipyard, and he was responsible for the construction and start-up of the new Syncrolift shiplift system.

He joined Asdoconsult Engineering in 2002 in order to manage the construction of the new runway of Barcelona’s airport.

In 2005 he left Asdoconsult Engineering and joined the Doctoral Program in Aerospace Science and Technology (DoCTA) in the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) where he is currently engaged.

Personal interests include nano-launchers, magnetic propulsion systems, space colonies and GPS applications.

He is alumni of the International Space University (ISU) and has attended the SSP 2006 Space Studies Programme in Strasbourg, France, in 2006.
