Gloria Garcia-Cuadrado

Head of Communication
& Head of Human Spaceflight & Advanced Concepts

Gloria was born the 14th of January of 1974 in Barcelona, Spain. She obtained her Bachelor in Physics and developed her Master Thesis in Theoretical Physics under a research grant of the Generalitat de Catalunya at the University of Barcelona and the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC). Now she holds the Reserch Proficiency (Suficiencia Investigadora - DEA) after the defence of her two Research Thesinas. Her main interests in Theoretical Physics are the primitive Universe and Gravitational Waves.

She obtained the Diploma in Space Studies from the International Space University in Pomona, California, in the Space Business & Management Department, in 2002,  and is an active member of the ISU community since then.

Gloria is also co-founder and has been CEO of a small company set-up in 1999 in Barcelona, devoted to Internet and New Technologies.

Her interest in the aerospace sector dates back to when she was child, and she could develop it during her career and being an active member of the AESS Students Association (a chapter of AESS International, located in the Technological High School of Telecommunications Engineering at UPC). In AESS Estudiants she has been taking part in the organization of the yearly EXPO-ESAs and other conferences and events devoted to promote the knowledge of the space arena in general, and of the European Space Agency, in particular.  She participated in the ESA Parabolic Flight Campaign of 2001 with an experiment aimed at studying the extinguishing of fire in a microgravity environment.

Gloria strongly believes it is necessary to approach science to society, not only for the exciting contents science can offer, but also and most important because of the values it can bring up (creativity, open--mindedness and capacity for analysing  and considering things from different points of view). Thus she has been devoted since many years to outreach activities in order to promote science for children at Schools and High Schools (participation in the yearly " Setmana de la Ciència") and also for the general public (media events; answering science questions for the Science channel of the internet portal of Terra and  publishing of many articles).
